Ascension and Pentecost Anniversaries

This year's Ascension Day Anniversary falls on May 17th, 2012. Although the Ascension of Christ is as important as Christ's birth, His death, and resurrection, yet Christians often overlook it. Also, this year's Pentecost Anniversary is May 27th, 2012. On this day, the Christian Church celebrates the anniversary of the coming of the Person of the Holy Spirit in power. This special manifestation of the Holy Spirit's presence and power marked the beginning of the Christian Church. The articles: "Ascension of Christ!"  and  "Pentecost Anniversary!" are written to help us consider afresh the benefits and blessings of the Ascension and to deepen our understanding of the person and works of the Holy Spirit.

National Day of Prayer: "Return to Me!"

The 61st Annual National Day of Prayer will take place Thursday, May 3rd, 2012. As usual, millions of believers in the United States will unite in concerted prayer for the nation. Thousands of prayer events will take place from coast to coast. The theme for this year's National Day of Prayer is "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD" taken from Psalm 33:12. Many are the blessings for a nation who honors God as her Lord. In the Old Testament Book of Hosea, which is the story of God's faithful love for His unfaithful people, God invites His people to return to Him and promises them many blessings. The present article, "Return to Me!"  is written to encourage believers to cry out to God to give His people a longing to turn back to Him completely, not casually.

The Savior's Seven Sayings on the Cross

While suffering on the cross for our sins on Golgotha, our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, spoke seven short, simple but significant sayings. These Seven Sayings reveal a great deal about His heart for people. The amazing thing about each saying is that they were spoken not in anger, resentment, bitterness, or with a vindictive spirit. In fact, each is a vivid expression either of His great care, concern, compassion and His sacrificial and selfless love for us. The season of celebrating  the death and resurrection of Christ is certainly an appropriate time to pause and ponder each of these sayings. I believe doing so will energize our spirits to worship Christ with a new sense of purpose and passion.

Encouraging Word for Today

The messages for Encouraging Word for Today arise from my personal daily devotional time with the Lord. By the grace of God, everyday, I spend time reading through the Bible and reflecting on the Word in the presence of the Lord. As He nourishes my spirit and soul through His Word by His Spirit, He also gives me the privilege to share His precious insights. In this way, He continues to help me personally grow in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for which I am very grateful. May He also bless you in this way!

School of Ministry

To be called into ministry is a privilege. But it also requires a lifetime of learning. There is no way we can learn all that God has revealed in the Bible just by attending a seminar or conference. Even a three year seminary education is not enough to gain all the knowledge of God's teaching on ministry. Seminary or no seminary, we are in need of lifelong education. We must enroll in the School of Ministry. In this school, we will learn among other things, the three major areas of ministry, namely, the Person of God Himself, the people of God and the people of the world. The power of ministry, the privilege of ministry, the purpose of ministry, the passion of ministry and the pleasure of ministry will also be our subject of learning. It is our prayer that God will encourage you in your study in the School of Ministry to become all that He wants you to be as you serve Him with purpose and passion.

School of Evangelism

Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ is a mandate given to all believers. The Good News can be shared in a variety of ways. The Scripture does not designate a single method of presenting the Gospel. The Bible records several examples of how the Lord Jesus and His early disciples presented the Good News. It is imperative that we pore over the pages of the Bible to learn from these examples. This is exactly what the School of Evangelism is all about. This school will take us on a lifelong journey of learning about the saving message which God has given us to declare to the lost, God's view of unbelievers, the Spirit's role in sharing the Good News, etc. It is our prayer that as we commit ourselves to searching the Scriptures to enlighten ourselves and enhance our presentation of the Good News, we will become more effective in fulfilling the Great Commission.

School of Prayer

Conscious as we are of its vital importance, yet we let the hours pass away as a blank and can only lament in death the irremediable loss. -E.M. Bounds

How much do you pray? How effective are your prayers? The Scripture has much to say about what God accomplishes in response to believing prayer. The School of Prayer articles are designed to encourage you to grow in your prayer life and experience more of God's transforming work and power through you.

Sermons

What are you looking for when you read the book of Acts? Missions strategies? Principles for successful church leadership? Lessons about life in the Spirit? Resolving issues about tongues and miracles? These questions have value, but none of them are the main thrust of the book. Rather, the supremacy and importance of Christ Himself are presented. He, the One who has all authority and power, is seen building and leading His Church. He was the supreme love of the believers we meet in Acts, and He must be our first love. Let these messages on the book of Acts deepen your commitment to Christ Himself.

God revealed Himself to us through the life of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the book of Matthew, Jesus is presented as the King of all. These messages offer a verse by verse expositional study of the life of Christ according to the book of Matthew. Listen to these sermons on Matthew and learn to know Jesus Christ better.

Paul's Letters to the first century church at Thessalonica are relevant for our times. They contain timeless truths such as the return of Christ, the rapture of the Church, the righteous judgment of God, the reality of suffering as a believer in Jesus Christ, the rebellion of the final Antichrist. The selected Sermons on First and Second Thessalonians are in the MP3 format. Our prayer is that your commitment to Jesus Christ will be strengthened and your witness for Him will become more fervent as you listen to these messages.

The Letter of James, written to the scattered and suffering Jewish believers of the first century, contains timeless truths for our day such as the sure and soon coming of Jesus Christ, suffering of believers, saving faith, the source of true wisdom and spiritual power released through prayer. The Selected Sermons on James are in the MP3 format. Our prayer is that God will renew your commitment to "Be a Doer of the Word, and not Merely a Hearer of it."

Paul's Epistle to Titus is concise. It's comprehensive as well. It deals with important issues such as leadership in local churches, the appearance of God's grace in Jesus, His Second Coming, the Spirit's regeneration and renewing of believers, as well as how to deal with a divisive person in the church. The Letter stresses the importance of practical Christian living. The Sermons on Titus are in the MP3 format. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit will use these messages to motivate you to live a purposeful and productive life in such a time as this!

The book of Jonah is a thriller from start to finish. In it, we learn that God's desire is to show His mercy and grace to all the peoples of the world who turn to Him. The book also reveals God's sovereign rule over mankind and all creation. In the opening verses of this book, we find an interesting story of a prophet who decided to runaway from God. The truth is, Christians can all identify with Jonah's disobedient spirit. To learn more, please click this link: Sermons on Jonah.
